Freight to the CIS countries

Road, rail and Caspian Sea freight between Iran and the Commonwealth of Independent States, and transit through Iran to Central Asia, the Caucasus, Russia and Belarus.

Three regions, three routes

Central Asia

Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Road and rail links from Iran to these countries run through Turkmenistan, including the Sarakhs and Incheh Borun crossings. Cargo for Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan also reaches the ports of Aktau and Turkmenbashi across the Caspian Sea.

The Caucasus

Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Astara and Bileh Savar crossings lead to Azerbaijan, Jolfa and Poldasht to Nakhchivan, and Nurduz to Armenia. Georgia lies on the same route, and SEAROAD has representatives in Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Russia and Belarus

Cargo for Russia moves across the Caspian Sea between Iran's northern ports and the ports of southern Russia, or overland through Azerbaijan on the North–South corridor. Cargo for Belarus travels via Russia.

SEAROAD services on CIS routes

Road freight

Export and import cargo between Iran and the CIS countries in both directions, by tilt and refrigerated trucks, as full or groupage loads. As the carrier, SEAROAD issues the CMR consignment note itself.

Transit through Iran

Cargo from Türkiye and Europe, or cargo unloaded at Iran's southern ports, crosses Iran's customs territory without clearance to Central Asia and the Caucasus. SEAROAD handles the transit declaration, the guarantee and coordination with the entry and exit customs.

Rail freight

For heavy and high-volume cargo over the long distances of Central Asia. Iran's rail link to the region runs through Turkmenistan, at Sarakhs and Incheh Borun.

Caspian Sea

Shipping from Iran's northern ports, such as Anzali, Amirabad and Astara, to ports in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Russia, with on-carriage by truck from the port to the final destination.

Why the Iran route?

Iran shares land borders with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and opens onto the Caspian Sea in the north and the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman in the south. That is why cargo from the southern ports, Türkiye and Europe reaches the CIS countries through Iran, and cargo from these countries reaches open water the same way.

One shipment may combine road, rail and sea. SEAROAD follows all of it with one responsible team: from collection at origin and the transport documents to the border customs and delivery at destination.
